The Venus fly trap is probably the most famous carnivorous plant. Its signature lobed leaves have tooth-like edges that snap shut on its prey -- flies and gnats.

Venus fly traps go dormant in winter, and require colder temperatures and lower light conditions for several months of the year. It may lose leaves, which is nothing to worry about. Cut off all leaves in spring to make way for new growth.

Includes 9" glass vase and moss bedding. Distilled water sold separately.

Only lived for a few weeks

I followed the directions and kept this in a window for direct sunlight for several hours, and added tiny bits of distilled water to keep the plant and moss moist at all times. It seemed to be doing well and then suddenly turned completely brown and dead. Description states that the plant goes dormant in the winter. However, it died completely while the weather has been warm. Very disappointed.
