Starting wage: $18 per hour with relevant experience

About the Job

The Fernseed is seeking a dependable part-time floral associate to join our floral team. This job is primarily based out of our South Tacoma Way location, where we handle the majority of our floral sales, but may occasionally involve a retail shift at our Proctor location.

Your day-to-day floral duties will include: set up and breakdown of our floral stem bar, helping customers with floral purchases, building arrangements for delivery, handling a daily queue of orders for pickup and delivery, building grab-and-go arrangements for the sales floor, and assisting with floral design for events and weddings.

Retail duties include: greeting shoppers, answering questions about our products, processing sales transactions, stocking the sales floor, and generally making our store a delightful place to shop. Top-notch customer service skills are a must, as is the ability to grasp product knowledge quickly, remain flexible in the face of evolving process, and thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes messy environment.

What we're looking for

We're looking for candidates with a demonstrated history of working in floral design or floral retail. While we don't require a high school diploma or degree from anywhere, you should have at least 2 years of work experience post high-school, ideally in jobs that require hard work on the back-end coupled with high-touch customer service on the front-end (bartending, catering, floral design, bakery, etc.). Familiarity with iOS, proficiency with web-based database and productivity tools and mobile apps is a must. In this role you should expect to stand for long periods of time and carry heavy things.

Bonus if you can answer questions about caring for a variety of house plants.

Our values are pretty clearly demonstrated in our product selection and through our marketing. We value tolerance, the rights of all people, and put a high priority on the well-being of the people who work here. We are a small team. This is a small business. These are weird times. We want to hear from you if you get that already, and you'd like to come in here and build floral stuff with us amidst the chaos of it all.
