Learn the traditional technique florists use to arrange bouquets by hand in an elegant spiral design. In this workshop, the Fernseed team will instruct you in the basics of the spiral technique, a floral design method that reinforces and strengthens your bouquet shape so your flowers stay positioned once they're tied off with string or placed in a vase.
Our team will walk you through the technique first, building a spiral base with uniform stems so you can focus on shape, not design. Once you have that magic a-ha moment with stem placement (it will happen, we promise), we'll move on to a bouquet recipe pre-selected by our floral team. You'll leave this workshop with a fundamental understanding of how to use focals, filler, and foliage to balance the look of a bouquet while simultaneously placing stems in a sturdy spiral base. With the skills you'll gain in this workshop, you’ll be able to arrange flowers you’ve grown, gathered, or purchased into something stunning and giftable for years to come.
This special session is BYOB — bring your favorite beer, wine, bubbly, or whatever you love to sip while you design. Most of our workshops are not BYOB, so consider this your official invitation to turn flower arranging into a cozy, creative night out. Come solo, bring a friend, or make it a low-key date night — flowers + drinks + good company is a pretty great combo. We’ll also have tea on hand for anyone who prefers a warm, alcohol-free option.
Participants won’t need any previous floral design experience, but we recommend you be able to stand for the bouquet-building portion of the workshop (about 30–45 minutes) and have the ability to hold and grip with two hands. You know your body best; we encourage anyone to try.
All flowers and materials are included in the class price. You’ll wrap your bouquet with paper and ribbon and take it home at the conclusion of the workshop.
