CARE + MAINTENANCE
Light + temperature
Because Cat Palms are indigenous to Southern Mexico and Central America, they require medium to bright indirect light. Direct sunlight, especially for prolonged periods, is detrimental to this plant.
Maintain indoor temperatures of 60-80° F
Likes some humidity, but doesn't require it.
Cat Palms like their soil to dry out a bit between waterings. Water every 5-7 days during the warmer months, and water every 7-10 days during the cooler months. Keep soil somewhat moist, but never saturated.
These plants are quite tolerant of an underwater; the leaves should spring right back up again if left unwatered for too long a stretch.
Great for pet-loving households, this plant is non-toxic.
Don't be shy about pruning this plant. The lower fronds will eventually turn brown and crispy as the plant grows. Use garden shears to snip off these crispy leaves which allows the plants energy to be dedicated towards new growth.
