The philodendron micans is a rare relative of the more common philodendron cordatum. It shares the familiar heart-shaped leaves, but features a darker color and a velvety texture. This is definitely a wishlist plant in the philodendron family! Vase not included.
The cutting you receive may or may not have roots already developing, but all cuttings should have the ability to develop roots.
Un-rooted cuttings should be placed in a glass or jar of water as soon as possible. Make sure that nodes (the spot where the leaf meets the stem and aerial roots form) are below the level of the water, and place in bright, indirect light. Change and refresh water 2-3 times per week. Allow roots to become several inches long and well established before transferring to well drained potting soil.
Rooted cuttings may be planted into soil immediately, or may live happily in water for several weeks.
Care: Care Difficulty: moderate
Light: Prefers bright indirect light, avoid hard direct sun entirely.
Water: Once planted, water when the top 1-2" of soil are dry.
